Glenwood South Monthly Market

glenwoodsouthlogoIn coordination with the Glenwood South Merchant’s Association, Legacy Event Planners is now holding a monthly market held every third Saturday. The markets will feature 40 vendors set up along North Street. Come visit Glenwood South the last Saturday of each month to enjoy the local and regional vendor market.

New Downtown Raleigh Shops & Restaurants

According the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, nine new shops and restaurants have opened up during the first quarter. Four more are slated to open in the coming weeks.

A few of the businesses that opened last quarter are Coglin’s Raleigh, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, Dos Taquitos Xoco, Fiction Kitchen and Fifteen. Slated for completion this quarter are the NC State Bar building, State Employees Credit Union tower and the Wake County Justice Center.

Crank Arm Brewing Co. Needs Your Help!

Here’s your chance to help three guys achieve their dream of opening up a brewery in right here in downtown Raleigh on W. Davie Street.  They are now 3 years into their project and have decided to use the popular website, Kickstarter as their platform to raise money in order to complete the brewery. They need to reach $35,000 in pledges by February 17th in order to receive funding for Crank Arm Brewing Co.  As of today, they have just 5 days to raise a little over $8,000 to reach their goal. Should they fall short of their goal, everyone that pledged their support will keep their money and Crank Arm Brewing Co. will have to look elsewhere for funding.

Downtown Raleigh Sheraton Recently Sold

According to to the News & Observer, Oaktree Capital Management and Northview Hotel Group acquired the 353-room hotel last week for $20.236 million from the Gencom Group of Miami, which bought the hotel for $22 million in September 2006.

The new owners of the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel in downtown plan to make many major improvements to the property to give it a more urban feel. Some of the updates include updating the lobby, common areas as well as the 4,600 square foot restaurant space along Fayetteville Street.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

It’s been a hundred years, but the sinking of the world’s largest ship of its time on April 15, 1912 has never been forgotten. The story of the Titanic’s maiden voyage is legendary; now is your chance to experience the wonder and tragedy of the “ship of dreams” right here in Raleigh.

From now until April 28, 2013, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition will showcase 200 artifacts retrieved from the wreck site of Titanic at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Museum goers will be able to take on the identity of a real passenger onboard Titanic as they explore re-creations of the ships interior. The purpose of RMS Titanic, Inc. who is conducting the exhibit is to faithfully and respectfully preserve the memory of Titanic and of all who sailed with her. Tickets are on sale now and range from 8 to 14 dollars.
